Obituary for Violet Ann Fontana

On Monday May 28, 2018, Violet Ann Fontana, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 96.
Violet was born on June 14, 1921 to Joseph and Mary (Scarpitti) Greco. She was formerly employed at her brother's family business, the Avenue Café in Aliquippa. She was a member of St. Titus Catholic Church in Aliquippa, St. Titus Confraternity of Christian Mothers, and the Italian Sons and Daughters of America. Violet had a passion for family. There was always a seat at her table or on her porch. Violet's selfless and unwavering love were a gift to all who met her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Fontana on March 9, 1965, and her four brothers, Edward, Ralph, Marshall, and Sylvester Greco. Also, her niece Gilda Shaver and cousin Rudy DiGiorno.

She will be deeply missed by her two sons, Jerry Fontana (Deborah Booth), and Jim Fontana; a daughter-in-law who gave both emotional care and support, Georgia Fontana; three grandchildren, Emily (Patrick) Kairys, Michael Fontana (Kristen Mirra) and Matthew (Vanessa) Fontana; six great grandchildren, Ellie, Owen, Austin, Ava, Tessa, and Luca; her beloved sister and best friend Florence Fontana, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Thursday from 4 to 8pm in Tatalovich Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 2205 McMinn St., Aliquippa, Pa. 15001, where a service will be held Friday at 9am, followed by a Mass of Christian at 9:30am at St. Titus Catholic Church, Aliquippa, with Fr. Tom Wilson, officiating.
Private interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Hopewell Twp.
The family would like to thank the staff of Allegheny Health Network and Viola's Managing Group for all their kindness and loving care.
Violet was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. "She was one of the rare ones, so effortlessly herself, and the world loved her for it."
