Obituary for Eugene Phillip Bruce

Eugene "Gene" Phillip Bruce passed away peacefully at age 84, on November 26, 2017, at Beaver Elder Care in Aliquippa, Pa. He is reunited with the love of his life once again.
Gene was born on his family's farm in Aliquippa, the son of the late Agnew Purdy and Wilhelmina Bruce. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife and redhead Clara Bruce, his brother David Bruce, son-in-law Jerry Shamp, and grandaughter Leah Rae Bruce.
Gene was a master carpenter and builder from the age of 16, except for two years spent in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, where he was stationed in Alaska. He spent 30 years as a union carpenter and supervisor for Carcaise Construction in Fallston, and then founded the custom construction company Unique Designers with his son Doug and son-in-law Jerry. They built many beautiful and unique homes and offices in the local area before he retired just 3 years ago. His passion and his life's work was building beautiful things, especially the home he built for his family.
He is survived by his son Douglas Bruce and his wife Lisa, his daughter Robin Shamp, his four beloved grandsons, Doug and Nick Bruce, and Jesse and Patrick Shamp, and his brother Hank Bruce and his wife Tomi.
The family would like to thank both Beaver Elder Care and Mother Teresa Hospice, for the kind and compassionate care they provided to our Dad and Grandad.
At Gene's request there will be no public viewing. Burial will be in The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
Arrangements by Tatalovich Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 2205 McMinn St. Aliquippa, Pa. 15001
